Acid Reflux - Can Apple Cider Vinegar Really Cure It?

acid reflux

Apples are the most unrecognized, underrated medicine available today. Eating apples is one of the best things you can do for many of the diseases of civilization that pervade our society. Apples provide fiber and nutrients and are a good first step in eliminating these conditions.

Acid reflux and a whole host of stomach and digestive problems fall into the category of diseases of civilization. These conditions, such as acid reflux, are mostly caused by our diets. Before we go further, lets talk about what acid reflux is.

Acid reflux is also known as GERD or gastro-esophageal reflux disease. It occurs when the esophageal sphincter fails to work correctly and the contents of the stomach come back into the esophagus: this liquid is made up of stomach acid and pepsin. The acid burns the walls of the esophagus and causes heartburn. If it washes further up the throat you can experience a burning in the back of your mouth and a bad taste.

Cellulite Treatment - An In Depth Analysis on What Works and What Doesn't

diminish cellulite

There are all kinds of shapewear for women products available these days. Some of those solutions really are designed to help you diminish cellulite. Other products, nevertheless, seem to be made for the sole purpose of making plenty of cash by selling to vulnerable as well as desperate people. Some of these products are so far fetched that we chose to talk about them in this article so that you will know that you shouldn't fall for the promises their marketing make.

Have you noticed the shapewear for women ring yet? This is a silver band that coils about your index finger several times. The notion behind this band is that it places adequate stress on the pressure points that are designed to help you diminish cellulite. Science has established that there are several pressure points in the human body that, when touched, really can be used to help you feel better. Seabands, for just one instance, were designed to maintain pressure on the points that control feelings of motion sickness. But the theory that a tiny ring may help you diminish cellulite (actively, as a reminder it probably works just fine) is just absurd.

Scary Stuff! Menthol Cigarettes More Addictive Than Regular Ones

menthol cigarettes

The cooling flavor of menthol cigarettes might make them more addictive--and more dangerous, according to a new study. After the jump, find out why it might be harder to quit menthol cigarettes...

Researchers followed 1,700 people who were trying to quit smoking. One-third of white patients smoked menthol cigarettes, compared with two-thirds of Latino patients and 81 percent of African Americans. They found that blacks and Latinos who puffed on menthol cigarettes had a much harder time quitting than those who smoked regular cigarettes. (In some cases, their rate of success was slashed in half!) Researchers say the menthol flavor might cover up the harsh nicotine and toxins in cigarettes. "This study suggests that people who smoke mentholated cigarettes--particularly those with a low disposable income--may inhale more nicotine and toxins per cigarette," said lead researcher Kunal K. Gandhi. And that might lead to a stronger addiction.

Researchers Say Some Cleaners and Air Freshners May Increase Your Breast Cancer Risk

cleaning products

When it comes to natural cleaning products, I've been a fan for a while now. My theory: Why be forced to inhale a bunch of harsh chemicals when some good old fashioned elbow grease works just as well? Now, a new study is shedding light on the potential risk of conventional cleaning products, and it's not pretty ...

According to a new study published this week in the journal Environmental Health, regular use of some cleaning products including air fresheners and mold removers doubled the risk of developing breast cancer. (Yikes--I'm glad I switched to this healthier bathroom cleaner!)

While they don't name product names, the researchers believe that some of the ingredients found in common household cleaners and air fresheners may contain "endocrine disrupting chemicals" or "mammary gland carcinogens." (Oddly, mothballs, pesticides and insect repellents showed little effect on breast cancer risk, though researchers say more study is needed.)

Acid Reflux - Conquering Heartburn

acid reflux

Acid reflux is a very common condition that causes acid from your stomach to flow back up into your oesophagus and towards your mouth. People suffering from acid reflux normally experience high levels of discomfort and pain due to this problem. The acid itself can also cause damage to the tissue in the throat; stomach acid being extremely acidic and capable of corroding most metals. Serious cases of acid reflux can actually be life threatening - but only when left untreated for many, many years.

The common name acid reflux (or heartburn) is just a laymans name for Gastro Oesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD for short) but most people find it easier to explain and pronounce acid reflux than the rather long winded Gastro Oesophageal Reflux Disease

Acid Reflux - Food That I Can Eat

Acid reflux, like any other dietary disease, has no simple and easy cure. Moderation is usually the best remedy for dietary diseases or disorders. Perhaps it would be good to shed some light on occurrence of acid reflux within the body. Acid reflux or heartburn in layman's terms happens when the stomach content in the body is too acidic and is subsequently sent back the reversed way to the esophagus.

The walls of the esophagus are designed to withstand neutral content and will cause pain and inflammation when acidic content is in contact with it. It can be liken to swallowing corrosive acid.

There is no hard and fast rule on what one should eat or not to avoid or cure acid reflux in the body. The occurrence of acid reflux tends to vary from person to person. For example, person A may feel experience acid reflux in the body after consuming read meat while person B may be fine with it. Before we start prescribing a rough remedy for ourselves, it would be best to understand the malady. Therefore, we should try our best to understand our body and what foods which cause it to happen in our bodies.

Everything you need to succeed with yoga

Yoga, as it is known to most people in the West, is derived from Hindu practices designed to allow individuals to broaden their spiritual side and gain a greater understanding of the nature of their existence. Roller-Coasters: Good Old Fashion Fun or a Serious Health Danger?

amusement park

Are you still a kid at heart? I used to love fast and furious amusement park rides, but somewhere around the age of 22, they started to make me feel dizzy, nauseated and sick. Now, health experts have a new warning about roller-coasters and other rides ...

Ride a roller-coaster and significantly damage you ears? That's the new concern from doctors at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Their recent case study suggests that, while relatively rare, as amusement park rides--specifically roller-coasters--get more extreme (think bigger highs, bigger lows, faster speeds and twists and turns), our ears may take a hit.
