Weight Loss, Behavioral Transformation Process

In a recent issue of the journal "Obesity Research" was published the result of a study that lasted two years, conducted by researchers at Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio. This is the first extensive study that comes to certify that patients who spend a longer time in physical activity and control their diet while they have the best chance to lose weight. The reverse is also correct: patients who spend their time doing very little exercise and those who do not control their diet are most likely to increase in weight.


According to Dr. Everett E. Logue, best results were obtained by those who brought food portion control. "Although we see similar patterns in terms of weight loss by reducing fat, along with increased consumption of fruits and vegetables, increasing physical activity and exercises overall planning, conduct which is obtained using the largest weight loss is that food portion size is controlled. " Control food portions seem to be easier to accept in terms of behavior than placing an exercise program. Yet most studies conclude that physical exercise is an important element in obtaining and maintaining an optimal weight long time.


The study showed that 38% of overweight patients for two years have consistently respected food portion control lost more than 5% by weight basis. Similarly, 33% of patients who have not complied with portion control have increased by more than 5% by weight basis.


The message of this study is simple: you must eat fewer calories and / or consume more calories if you want to lose weight. It is so simple that most people find it too simple to be true and chasing complicated and often ineffective solution. There are no shortcuts, instead there are lots of ways that we can eat less and burn more calories. It is important to find our own way of eating sensibly and doing exercises, which I keep for life. We live in an environment that predisposes to obesity.
